WATSONVILLE

-Alejo nominated for coastal panel

The Watsonville City Council nominated Mayor Pro Tempore Luis Alejo for the California Coastal Commission this week.-

- 

The nomination will be submitted to state Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, who is expected to make a decision about the seat in June. Bass asked for nominations from the Central Coast for the seat of incumbent Dave Potter, whose term expires this month. Potter, a Monterey County supervisor, is also in the running.

- 

The Coastal Commission is a 12-member panel that has a say in virtually all coastal development.
